Concrete wedge anchors are an excellent value at a low margin cost and are readily available from Tanner.

Installation is achieved in a few steps and once installed there is little room for error. All DEWALT wedge anchors have an ACI (American Concrete Institute) category ranking of 1.

The DEWALT concrete wedge anchor has been recognized by the ACI in cracked and uncracked concrete including seismic and wind loading.

Each DEWALT Power-Stud concrete wedge anchor has different applications and uses based on anchor material composition (body, expansion clip, nut, washer).

How do Wedge Expansion Anchors work?
The anchor body consists of a medium carbon steel threaded rod on one end and a tapered mandrel at the other end. The tapered mandrel is surrounded by a three-section expansion clip that moves freely around the mandrel. The movement of the expansion clip is restrained by the mandrel taper and by a collar. The anchors are installed in a pre-drilled hole with a hammer. Tighten the anchor with a torque wrench by applying the required installation torque. When torque is applied to the nut on the threaded end of the anchor body, the mandrel at the opposing end of the anchor is drawn into the expansion clip, pushing it outward into the sides of the predrilled hole in the base material.

The Power-Stud+ SD1

The SD1 anchor is a fully threaded, torque-controlled, wedge expansion anchor which is designed for consistent performance in cracked and uncracked concrete. Suitable base materials include normal-weight concrete, sand-lightweight concrete, concrete over steel deck, and grouted concrete masonry. The concrete wedge anchor is manufactured with a zinc plated carbon steel body and expansion clip for premium performance. Nut and washer are included.

How to Install a Concrete Wedge Anchor?

Step 1 Using the proper drill bit size, drill a hole into the base material to the required depth. The tolerances of the drill bit used should meet the requirements of ANsI standard B212.15.

Step 2 remove dust and debris from the hole during drilling, (e.g. dust extractor, hollow bit) or following drilling (e.g. suction, forced air) to extract loose particles created by drilling.

Step 3 Position the supplied washer on the anchor and thread on the supplied nut. If installing through a fixture, drive the anchor through the fixture into the hole. Be sure the anchor is driven to the minimum required embedment depth.

Step 4 Tighten the anchor with a torque wrench by applying the required installation torque.*

*The threaded stud will draw up during tightening of the nut; the expansion wedge (clip) remains in original position.
