Closed end blind rivets are rivets that feature a mandrel through the center. To install open end rivets, the rivet is inserted into a hole, a riveting tool then draws the mandrel into the rivet. During installation, the blind end of the rivet expands and then snaps off the mandrel. The one difference between closed end & open end blind rivets is that closed end rivets provide complete mandrel retention, preventing the mandrel from ending up entering the assembly causing issues and other problems. Closed end rivets also provide a tight, secure seal to prevent gasses and liquids to pass through.
